Nandu (crab) thokku

Hi all,

Hope you enjoyed my last recipe. Today i am going to share you all with nandu thokku dish.

Ingredients
  1. Crab - 5 -6 pieces, cleaned and washed
  2. Onion - 2
  3. Tomato - 3
  4. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  5. Green chillies - 2 
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  7. Chilli powder - 1 tbsp 
  8. Black pepper powder - 1 tbsp 
  9. Salt to taste
Grind it to paste:

Coconut - 1 cup
Fennel seed - 1 tbsp
 
To Season:

Oil 
Mustard seed - 1 tbsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tbsp

Method:

Keep pan and pour oil. Once hot, add mustard seeds followed by urad dhal.

Add onions and fry till it turns slightly golden brown.

Now add tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, green chillies.

Add crab, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt, grounded paste.
 
Fry till the crab oozes out water. Now sprinkle some water and allow it to cook for another 5 mins.

Add the pepper powder and stir it for a minute.

Your nandu thokku is ready. Sprinkle some coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.

Paal Paniyaram


Today i am going to write about Paal Paniyaram. This recipe is very popular in Tamil Cuisine especially in Chettinadu Cuisine. 




Ingredients:

Raw Rice - 200 gms
Urad Dhal - 200 gms
Salt - 1 tbsp
Oil for frying
Boiled Milk - 1 litre
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Cardamom Powder - A pinch

Method:

Wash and soak the rice, dhal for two hours. Drain the water completely.

Grind rice and dhal with salt. 

Make the batter like butter. The batter should be in correct consistency. To check it, drop a small amount of batter in a bowl full of water. If the batter float in the water, it is the correct consistency.

Make a hole in a cloth and fill the batter into it.

Heat the oil for frying.

Drop little by little like a small ball in the oil, and fry it till it becomes golden brown.

Boil the milk and add sugar, cardamom into it.

Drop all the fried balls into the milk.

Soak it for half an hour and then take it out and serve.

Your delicious paal paniyaram is ready.
